Former President Olusegun Obasanjo says his views expressed on the performance of the Buhari Administration on January 23 this year was a statement and not a letter.
He pointed out that the statement was not made frivolously, but was released “after deep thinking and taking cognizance of the General feelings of the people of Nigeria.”
Chief Obasanjo made the clarification on Thursday at his residence in Abeokuta, Ogun State when he granted audience to a frontline PDP Presidential Aspirant, Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, SAN and members of his campaign organization.
The former president warned that a nation can be destroyed not necessarily when people are doing bad things but when people keep quiet when danger looms. “I think those who keep quiet when things are going wrong do more harm to the country than any other group,” he said.
The former president said further that he was happy that many people woke up from their slumber after his letter.
He declared that he would not rest until we get this country to what God had destined it to be. God did not create Nigeria to be poor or divided, Chief Obasanjo stressed.
